Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)

Founding essential fatty acid of the omega-3 family. Found in flaxseed, walnuts and camelina oil. Without it, no omega-3 derivative can be produced. Its conversion into EPA and DHA depends largely on the FADS genotype.
