Beta-amyloid (Aβ)
Peptide formed by APP cleavage by BACE1 and gamma-secretase. It accumulates in extracellular plaques in the brain, the first hallmark lesion of Alzheimer's. Its clearance is ensured by the BBB (P-gp, LRP1) and the glymphatic system.
