    Bile

Digestive fluid produced by the liver (600 to 1000 ml per day) and stored in the gallbladder. Composed of water, bile salts, cholesterol, phospholipids, bilirubin and electrolytes. It plays a dual role: emulsification of dietary fats and elimination of metabolic waste (bilirubin, cholesterol, metabolised hormones, fat-soluble toxins). Insufficient bile production or flow (cholestasis) can compromise toxin and hormone elimination, with potential skin repercussions.
