Butyrate

Short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) produced by bacterial fibre fermentation (Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Roseburia). The primary energy source of colonocytes, it strengthens the gut barrier, exerts systemic anti-inflammatory action and indirectly benefits the skin via the gut-skin axis.
