Gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y)

Surgery that reduces the stomach to a small pouch and bypasses the duodenum. Food reaches the mid and distal small intestine quickly, where L cells and neuropods are dense: post-prandial GLP-1 and PYY secretion can rise five to tenfold.
