    Ceramide

Lipid constituent of the skin barrier, representing approximately 50% of epidermal lipids. It maintains skin hydration and prevents the penetration of irritants and allergens. Its deficiency is associated with atopic dermatitis. Naturally synthesised by the skin, but its level can be supported by omega-3 and niacinamide.
