Surgical procedures (gastric bypass, sleeve...) that alter digestive anatomy to treat severe obesity. The effect on weight and blood sugar exceeds simple calorie restriction: it is partly explained by a reorganisation of signals from neuropods and gut hormones (GLP-1, PYY) toward the brain.
