    CYP450 (Cytochrome P450)

Superfamily of hepatic enzymes responsible for Phase I detoxification. They transform fat-soluble compounds (toxins, medications, hormones) to prepare them for elimination via Phase II. If Phase II is insufficient, the reactive intermediates produced by CYP450 can accumulate and increase skin inflammation. Certain plants (milk thistle, curcumin) can inhibit certain CYP450 isoforms and interact with medications.
