DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)

Active form of testosterone, produced by 5-alpha-reductase in sebaceous glands. It stimulates sebum production and plays a central role in acne pathogenesis. Zinc inhibits 5-alpha-reductase, thus reducing testosterone-to-DHT conversion. Isotretinoin (a vitamin A derivative) reduces the size and activity of sebaceous glands.
