Emunctories

Naturopathic term referring to the body's elimination organs: liver, intestine, kidneys, lungs and skin. In naturopathy, illness is sometimes interpreted as an overload of one or more emunctories causing other organs to compensate. Reactive or inflammatory skin can signal a liver or intestinal overload requiring priority support.
