    GLA (gamma-linolenic acid)

    First derivative of linoleic acid, produced by the FADS2 enzyme. Often nicknamed the ultimate lubricant, it plays a recognised role in premenstrual syndrome, skin health and inflammation regulation. Very difficult to obtain through ordinary diet. It is found in small amounts in hemp oil, and in capsules in borage oil and evening primrose oil.
