    HbA1c (Glycated haemoglobin)

    Reflects haemoglobin glycation over the past 8 to 12 weeks. The reference marker for chronic glycaemic control, but limited regarding tissue glycation: two people with the same HbA1c can carry very different AGE loads. In functional practice, complement with fructosamine (short term) and skin fluorescence (long term).
