Glycaemic index (GI)
Measure of how quickly a carbohydrate-containing food raises blood sugar compared to pure glucose (GI = 100). High GI foods (white bread, white rice, sodas) cause rapid insulin spikes that increase IGF-1 and stimulate sebaceous glands. Low GI foods (legumes, vegetables, whole grains) maintain stable blood sugar, reducing acne and skin inflammation.
