NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa B)

Central transcription factor of the inflammatory response, present in hepatocytes, keratinocytes and immune cells. Its activation by toxins, alcohol, LPS or stress generates pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-alpha, IL-1beta) that circulate in the blood and worsen inflammatory skin diseases. Curcumin, resveratrol and EGCG inhibit NF-kB.
