PHF (Paired Helical Filaments)

Structures formed by hyperphosphorylated and glycosylated Tau protein. These are the main constituents of neurofibrillary tangles, the second Alzheimer's lesion. AGEs glycosylate Tau and reinforce PHF formation independently of phosphorylation (PMID 38947632).
