Polyglutamates

Natural form of folates in food, consisting of a chain of several glutamate molecules. Dietary folates are mainly found as polyglutamates, which must be converted to monoglutamates by intestinal conjugase before absorption. Conversion can be reduced with intestinal pathology or enzyme deficiency.
