S100 proteins

Family of calcium-binding proteins (S100A8, S100A9, S100B…) involved in intracellular signalling and inflammation. Several S100 proteins are ligands of the RAGE receptor and contribute, like HMGB1, to the inflammatory amplification loop activated by AGEs.
