Psoriasis

Chronic inflammatory skin disease characterised by erythematous and scaly plaques caused by keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Involves the IL-23/Th17 immune pathway. Associated with intestinal dysbiosis with reduction of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and increase of Prevotella copri. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and standard biomedical treatment gives better results than each approach separately according to a 2024 meta-analysis.
