Omega-6/omega-3 ratio
Ratio between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acid intakes in the diet. The ideal ratio for limiting inflammation is estimated between 4:1 and 1:1. The Western diet commonly reaches 15:1 to 20:1, mainly due to overconsumption of omega-6-rich vegetable oils (sunflower, corn, soy) and low consumption of oily fish. This imbalance is a major factor in chronic skin inflammation.
