Oestrogen receptors

Proteins present in many tissues (breast, uterus, bone, brain, cardiovascular system) that bind oestrogens and mediate their biological effects. Two main subtypes: ERα (proliferative effects) and ERβ (protective effects). Phytoestrogens bind with much lower affinity than endogenous oestrogens.
