Non-coeliac gluten sensitivity (NCGS)

A condition characterised by digestive and extra-digestive symptoms triggered by gluten ingestion, in the absence of coeliac disease and wheat allergy. The pathophysiological mechanisms remain debated. Estimated prevalence between 0.5 and 13% depending on studies. Diagnosis is made by exclusion after ruling out coeliac disease and wheat allergy. A gluten-free diet improves symptoms, but gradual reintroduction may be attempted under medical supervision.
