Hepatic steatosis (fatty liver)
Fat accumulating inside liver cells, beyond 5% of the organ's weight. Painless and silent for years. Its non-alcoholic form (NAFLD, renamed MASLD in 2023) is linked to free fructose, sugary drinks, insulin resistance and inactivity. It is reversible: cutting liquid sugar, moving more and losing 7-10% of body weight is often enough to clear the fat.
