Thujone
Monoterpenic compound found in officinal sage, wormwood and thuja. Neurotoxic at high doses: it lowers the epileptogenic threshold and can cause convulsions. Its presence imposes a limited duration of use for officinal sage and strictly contraindicates its use in epilepsy. Standardised thujone-free extracts are preferable for regular use.
Never use a dietary supplement without the advice of a healthcare professional. Overdoses as well as deficiencies are not without risk.
