Enteroendocrine cell

Cell scattered through the gut mucosa that secretes hormones (GLP-1, CCK, PYY, serotonin...) in response to nutrients. The classic, slow pathway, travelling through the blood. To be distinguished from the neuropod, a particular enteroendocrine cell capable of fast synaptic signalling.
