GABAergic effect

Pharmacological effect resulting from the activation or modulation of the GABAergic system. Results in reduced neuronal excitability, an anxiolytic, sedative or anticonvulsant effect. Shared by benzodiazepines, alcohol and several medicinal plants. The potentiation of these effects when combined can be dangerous.
