GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid)

Main inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system. It reduces neuronal excitability and plays a key role in regulating anxiety, stress and sleep. Target of benzodiazepines, alcohol and several sedative medicinal plants such as valerian and passionflower.
