Neuropod cell

Sensory cell of the intestinal epithelium, described by Diego Bohorquez in 2015. It bears an axon-like process that forms a true synapse with a vagal fibre and transmits information from the gut lumen to the brain in about 100 milliseconds, the speed of a visual reflex.
