Punicalagins

Very large molecular polyphenols specific to pomegranate, hydrolysed in the intestine into ellagic acid and then into urolithins by the microbiome. Urolithins have documented anti-inflammatory and senoprophylactic effects. Punicalagin content varies considerably depending on variety and fruit maturity. Absent from industrial juices which retain only a minimal fraction.
